Jamie Lee is an emerging writer, poet, performer, artivist and aspiring clown currently living in South Manchester. He is a recovering misanthrope and an introverted extrovert. He has been writing poetry since he was, well, old enough to write and sees it not only as an art form but as a great catharsis in an often dark world. He was a member of Contact Theatre's Young Company, performing in 4 shows including the Manchester Theatre Award winning 'The Shrine of Everyday Things' and 'Climate of Fear', a series of monologues which tackled the subject of global warming and environmental injustice. Through the latter he became invested in climate equity and, last year, joined Extinction Rebellion, an international non-violent direct action movement challenging global governmental apathy on climate breakdown. He is an avid social justice warrior, being particularly passionate about increasing mental health awareness (and/or that of other invisible disabilities) and promoting a more open discourse on sex and sexuality. He believes that we exist in a time where people often internalise callousness as a defense mechanism against their perceived inability to fight the myriad social injustices prevalent in contemporary society and that to combat this it is essential we each rediscover the child-like clown within all of us that longs to reconnect with and regenerate the world around it. His favourite poem is 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll.'

John Darwin thought he was a poet from birth but was kicked into action by his Dad’s terminal illness and a desire to do something more than shifting papers and supping pints.

He was the host of Write Out Loud Sale for two years, a member of a Firm of Poets for a couple more and is currently co-host at Spoken Weird, Halifax.

He lives, drinks, loves and laughs in Prestwich, North Manchester.

His first solo collection ‘I meet myself returning’ will be published by Flapjack Press on 25th February.
