Biography

I have followed up my first poetry anthology "Pin Number To The Real World" with "Open Door Closed", which contains 43 pieces of my finest work. All but two of them I "roadtested" at many Write Out Loud events from Middleton, Wigan and Bolton. In April I published my 3rd poetry anthology "In the Third Person" which sold out almost as soon as it was published and has just gone into reprint. In April 2012 I was the "spotlight" poet at Middleton WOL, which is a great venue for the nervous novice. I have since published via LULU "Poems On The Subject of Love", "32 Days a Month" and "Tasty Morsels" I also write plays and in May of 2011 my first debut play "Murderous Intentions" was performed by The Priestley Players in Swinton and was very well recieved. I enjoy the poetry side of my writing and I enjoy reading the pieces to apprieciative audiences around the Manchester area.Although in recent years I have been more of a guitar/singer at many acoustic nights in and around the Bolton area and also Gullivers in Manchester. I have published six poetry books in total, my most recent book being in March 2014 "Poems on the Subject of Love" which has 67 poems all about "love". All my poetry books and plays are available through LULU or email me at Robbiegood@hotmail.com for details. i am also available for hire at a cheap cost of chicken and chips and a pint of Guiness and travel expenses.

OPEN DOOR CLOSED I cannot find inspiration to write It's like a light has gone out And I have to fight; Fight my out from the darkest corners of my mind I cannot write anymore - not even sublime. The door is locked to the room That was once so fruitful with ideas But no I feel that I am doomed As strongly to fore sneak out my hidden fears. It's like a light has closed down From inspiration exhaustion And now my brain won't let me in Because it dislikes mental exploitation. What do I have to do to unlock the door? As having no poetic vision is becoming a chore. Radios, DVD's, TV and books cannot inspire Hearing idle chatter no longer brings me fire My lack if inspiration is severely dire It's like facing the challenge of the circus high wire. I conclude that my minds door is closed And that my brain see me as the enemy. But now I am at the end of my tether When once we used to agree on every word written so freely In the days when we were once friends together. But now it is my foe and challenges my sanity But behind the open closed door. . . . Lies my destiny. PART TIME BELIEVER IN YOUR SOUL I’m a part time believer in your soul, But a full time believer now I am whole. I live my dreams vigorously, Embossed in life’s canopy, Smiling at the rigors of whatever is brought, Learning the lessons so determinedly taught. I will find those pictures I have always sought, Fight the urges that urge to be fought. I take the view that you have to be who you are, No point in pretending that you are something you are not. Life is not a rehearsal; you only have one chance, So don’t let it lead you a merry dance. Embraced in the act brings nervous tension, As the audience absorbs you in praise unmentioned. Live out whatever it brings, Because no one cares, not one jot, But then; only you hear the voices sing. I’m a casual observer in the scheme of things, Entranced in the canopy of vigorous dreams, And the surprises that they bring, I’ve learned my lesson, my voice now sings. There is no way back, though the road was hard, Yet I anticipated the turn of the card. It took a lifetime to reach my goal, But I’m still a part time believer in your soul.
