Biography

I hestitate to call myself a poet but I write poetry and short prose that's a lot poetic so maybe I am. I am recently retired and so have the time to play that I've longed for; also to care for my currently poorly collie who has a fractured hip which is taking a long time to heal. I have just completed a creative writing course at the OU which has been an inspiration and a good companion for 9 months. I have learnt tips and tricks, about editing, editing and ........, about how to tone up my writing so that its not so flabby. I am encouraged and nurtured and new to all this. I'm heading for an open mic session in Huddersfield asap to put a toe in the water and see if the foot will follow and want to make new writing friends. Have to admit that the pic is of Mossy my dog!

Samples

St Bruno Flake I pressed my nose into the small, round St Bruno flake tin full of screws and smelled my father. Head swimming in the warm, rich, smoky memory I tipped out the screws and kept the tin. Years after, I hold the tin tight shut in case I can no longer smell the comfort of his pocket. The familiar ritual. Filling and tamping, the scrape of the match. The flare of flame sucked into the bowl. Again and again, lips working. Breathing out around the stem held resting in between thumb and forefinger. Suck again. Tobacco glowing , the air crackling. The look of stunned peace on a deep, satisfying pull, wreathed in smoke. Rosie Mor
