About Us
Write Out Loud Woking is a monthly poetry open mic night at the Lightbox museum and gallery in Woking, on the last Thursday of each month. We also run a separate night, usually on the second Wednesday of each month, on Zoom. Comperes are Greg Freeman and Rodney Wood. We often feature guest poets, and we are particularly keen to welcome new poets making their debut at the mic. We also have our own YouTube channel and here's the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2tJ8gawkXcJnlnmdUNKBeA
What we do
We celebrated our first anniversary in May 2017. In April we hosted a three-hour Poetry Lunch with four guest poets and more than 20 open micers as part of the Lightbox literary festival in Woking. Back at the Lightbox in April 2018 for four hours of open mic around Saturday lunchtime, we also welcomed Elvis McGonagall and Susan Evans as our guest poets. Two months later our monthly open mic nights moved to the Lightbox. It all made sense! In April 2019 our headliners at Woking literary festival were Robert Garnham and Annum Salman, during five hours of open-mic poetry. https://www.writeoutloud.net/public/blogentry.php?blogentryid=66526
