Words At Night

All the words to say
The sad ones
The lonely ones
The happy, grateful ones
The mad ones
The ones that circulate through you
But never leave your lips
They rage out onto paper
For all to read
But the ones closest to you
Will never see
These words escape you effortlessly
Words poured out late at night
Words splayed out for others in the light of day
Words that others will relate
Words that make others feel safe
That they too feel the same way
Words that will make you say ‘Thanks’
Thanks for today...

So use your words
Use them wisely
Share them with those you love
Share them with your friends and family
Share them with the world
Let the whole world see
Just what you feel
Spark them with your electricity

Well put, Mika. My words strike at any time, and basically, the world stops, while I 'capture' them. But I'm fortunate to be able to do this.

Mind you, not good if you're cooking! And that has happened.

I basically use my craft
Use it to please me
If others choose to like it
They're welcome to come see

Thought provoking poem Mika. Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, my family doesn't show much interest in my poetry, or any poetry for that matter; which is why I'm grateful for online gathering places, like WOL, for those of us that appreciate and gravitate to this type of art.

A reflection on how we poets use our craft for ourselves, how we choose to share our words or not, and who are the chosen ones to receive them.
