Modern Saviour
He would certainly be admitted.
Who would believe
In the return of a prophet?
A dream realised
Is a failure in itself.
It belongs to the mind only.
To arrive in utopia
And find it is raining,
Earn the love
Of a perfect woman
Only to notice
She is a ghost.
This is proof
Dreams are for the mind only.
And as for the return
Of jesus in human form
He would certainly remain
in the deepening desert
With Hamas defending justice
Or wrapped up in jungle
At war with the C.I.A.
Either way,
Mossad would have him tortured
For the secrets of paradise
And when they are spoken
The war is over
Because dreams are for the mind only.

Hi Kealan Just catching up with your poem Modern Saviour. I enjoyed and found the last stanza particularly intriguing - maybe it's because I'm a lapsed Catholic with a Muslim daughter.
