A day in our lives

These days we try to avoid the news,

the sick ministers in sweatshirts

sending video messages,

the succession of politicians

unable to provide any answers.

Today I cut the lawn, the first time

this year, and now it looks a picture

in this cold spring, despite

the moss, and scars of drought.

Tonight I spoke to our son

on the phone, and we talked

about old football matches

that you can find on YouTube.

Later this same night we heard

that someone we knew had died.

His last posting on social media:

‘I wish I could get rid

of this dry cough.’

That's the spirit, MC! We're all in this together.

A time of concern for all and tragedy for some that we hope will
end soon - with all the forces of modern science and medical
application at humanity's disposal in the fight back. Onwards and
upwards!

Thanks, Don. Yes, 'jolted' was the word last night.

I was liking this Greg until the last stanza brought me up with a jolt to the reality going on around us. I still 'enjoyed' it despite this....

Well, I have been out doing some shopping today, Graham. We had run out of wine, for one thing. I'm posting the odd poem as a kind of journal.

We've been asked to stay at home too Greg, our children nearby are doing our shopping. Another lovely day here, out in the garden again, it's never been so sorted this early.
It's like being in the nicest open prison imaginable!

I think we've all become members of the 'Worried Well"

stay safe G

I woke up with one last night, Phil. Applied some Vick, put on a T-shirt, and went back to sleep. This poor guy was in his late 50s, retired as a paramedic last year, and was looking forward to moving to a new home in Dorset. It always seems to be bright in the morning, and then cloud over after lunchtime. Have you noticed that? Thanks for reading.

Greg - worrying times indeed - dry coughs abound - I've had one for ages. As have others I know. Take care. P
