I know what time it is
I know what time it is
A new wall-clock’s
Hands move ever so slowly
As the hour passes quickly by
Mesmerizing my attention
Each life choice seems small
Each breath almost effortless
Until hindsight enlarges
Magnifying the moments
Of our lives – highlighting the times
When we held our breath
Life is long
Even when time is short
Seconds slow
Novels are written
Capturing a single day’s events
Sometimes life IS long
Leisurely passing time
Documenting every nuance
Of a gentle breeze
While swaying back and forth
On a porch swing
Time is not consistent
Passing slowly and quickly
For each individual
As needed to accent
An experience
A time for awareness
My sister called last night
I rarely have the patience
But I listened calmly
Allowing the time to pass
As I watched the clock’s hands
Caress its face
Beyond my grasp of understanding
I know this lifetime was not for
Us four -- My siblings and I
We dedicated our life’s energy
To a six-acre corner lot
The people and creatures on it
Unconsciously
Each taking a piece
Of the pain
The whole to be processed
Was too big for one
The first ones are gone
Moved out of time
Where spirits go
To study
We are still here
As time brings the
Unconscious – Conscious
Awareness negates
Blame and regret
And there is time to heal
