Rich

Let me show you the treasure I found in the ditches,

Let me share the lessons failure has taught,

Let me share my wealth, though I have no riches,

Let me tell you the story of every scar wrought,

Let me tell you of times of hunger and envy,

Let me tell of pain and the lessons it taught,

Let me show you the wheals that the whips left upon me,

Let me show you the scars of the battles I've fought,

And finally let me flesh out their meaning,

Let me tell you the reason I never gave up,

Let me tell how I can be rich but not wealthy,

Let me measure my treasure in a half full cup.

Thank you Jennifer, I'm really pleased you like it. You don't have to be wealthy to be rich, and only the truly rich know what an impediment wealth is to the process of enrichment.

Thanks Martin, it's funny I tend to write almost exclusively in rhyme although I do love prose. I think it's the early influence of listening to music all the time. It only struck me when someone mentioned it before, a few years ago, that a lot of my stuff would only need a little tweak to be a song. Glad you liked it.

I am not normally a great fan of rhyme but this has such a wonderful natural rhythm and pace to it matched well with the repeating phrase of 'let me'

wonderful stuff Jason
love it
