a broken law of friendship

Our silence feels criminal
A broken law of friendship

I don’t see you anything like enough
And enough is not familiar
Anymore.

I mouth “I’ll see you very soon”
But only time arrives
If not today
When?

A cold TXT.
the mobile phone
petty nourishment
for the wilting petals
grown
of natural friends
we germinated together.

such fun times.

And whilst we may well
both be unhinged,
in our own special way,
Poor excuse for silence
I’m missing you

special friend.

I carry the torch
but darkness draws...
Slow but sure we age
And the gap becomes the gulf
How much we change

We were,
we are,
we will be,
too busy with life:

It’s sentence.

Our joint Jury of conscience
Heaved heavy on our back
And time changed….all..of..that..viscious
remains
The guild memories
the rosy print

Became a blackened scrawl

once such clever friends
We forgot how good we were.

Criminal.

I can relate to this so much...
I also love these lines:

'And whilst we may well
both be unhinged,
in our own special way,
Poor excuse for silence
I’m missing you'

This is very nice Peter, yes many times we all seem to forget our friends, we dont talk much except here and thats so little it may not count. Special friends should not be forgotten and never spoken to as if they are less then the dirt we walk on. I miss special people to. Very nice poem. hope your well.
