Grown From A Seed in Lock Down
Rooted and grown from a seed planted long ago,
hidden away, buried down deep in the soil below
Under the cover darkness, black as a moonless night,
emerge tiny green shoots, enticed by the warm sunlight
Leaves gradually uncurling, flatten, gentle and slow,
veined, green, vital organs, enable the plant to grow
Stems growing up straight, sturdy, strong and tall,
bearing the flower head, supported, it will not fall
Petals packed within buds, restricted, held in tight,
ready to burst and reveal delicate flushes of delight
The lock down has cast a shadow over our future ways
Desperate for a breakthrough, enticed by brighter days
Cautiously we venture into the unfamiliar world we face
Accepting and adjusting to the new life we must embrace
Hardy signs of new growth, flourish and thrive each day
Adapting our lives accordingly to the “new normal” way
Rooted, standing tall and strong, holding our heads up high
Like the beautiful flower heads, look towards the sunlit sky
As blossoms we will bloom, alone, two, three, then a crowd
A celebration of this new life, together standing tall and proud
