My enemy and I

Milk

Yogurt

Sausage

Cheese

My enemy and I

Pray to the same god

Using different rituals

Built from the same bones

My enemy and I

Share the same name

Accented differently

Our signatures are the same

Yet some fool thinks

We can paper over differences

With a couple of drinks

And pregnant pauses

And some fool believes

That we’d give up this anger

That has served us so well

In shaping our cultures

Difference and the human spirit for competition is the reason why we as a species have prospered so much and have murdered so much.

A great poem, you played on my love for sausage and cheese.
