SUICIDE; TWENTY YEARS ON . . . .

As the scales fall from my eyes

There's no place to hide or disguise

What once passed for love

Was a fierce fist within the glove

That jabbed and stabbed our lives

Before the sucker punch

That sent us reeling

Reeling

Reeling

You sought no mercy

Save under the cloak of darkness

Where your shame seeped

Through walls and sheets

To scorch the cheeks

Of those who lay in fear seething

Seething

Seething

There is no fairy tale end in sight

Just shattered shards

In a moonless night

That fall to earth like silent screams

And join us in our muted dreams

To form the whole, that we are seeking

Seeking

Seeking

I echo Brian's comment. You have the spark to set on fire the words and tones of a poetic liar. "The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth.” Jean Cocteau. So, not an insult, all real poets are liars.
