Cat
Do you know that in Australia
they have some big black cats?
They do not let you know they have,
they keep it 'neath their hats.
Because their hats have corks on,
they maybe haven't seen,
but Pam and I did see one.
Our eyes are very keen.
Out in the Hunter Valley,
along a highway clear,
the graceful beast strolled 'cross the road
without the slightest fear.
We scanned the vineyard and the bush,
eyes peeled and brains alert,
but pussy had concealed herself
in Oz's glorious dirt.
Now, weary Okker listeners
hear of the Poms who came.
They couldn't hold the local grog,
their minds it did inflame.
Till blind with wine and beauty
of all they saw around,
a moggy crossed their path one day
just wandering its ground.
But Pam and I know different,
that mighty pussy cat,
will jump on them, one fine day,
and eat them. Just like that.

Hello, Malpoet - I was absorbed with your imaginary in this write. I think you based the poem on real life experience. Australia has a various animals so the cats can be very different from those in Europe. Also here where I am we do have different breed of cats as well. Beautiful poem!!
