The Beverley Festival
This year’s Beverley Festival runs during the weekend of 18th – 20th June, and will bring together a top class list of musical artists, together with some of the top names from the world of the written word and poetry.
Poets at the festival will include York poet, comedian and singer – Rory Motion; award winning Yorkshire poet – Helen Burke, who will be presenting her show ‘Some day we’ll Look back and laugh’, ahead of its appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; and Mike Cain, a singer, songwriter, poet and storyteller from York, as well as many others.
In addition, to celebrate the life of Hull poet, Phillip Larkin, the festival will be hosting a showcase event from Larkin 25. Commemorating 25 years since his death, some of Larkin’s poems have been set to music, and narrated by actor Sir Tom Courtenay.
Musicians booked so far include The Proclaimers, Eddi Reader, Barbara Dickson, The Demon Barber Roadshow, The Brighouse & Rastrick Band, and lots more.
A varied and eclectic line-up and a packed programme of poetry, music, dance, comedy and literature, promises that this event will have something for everyone.
