Deck of Cards

entry picture

From the deck of cards
Life’s dealt me a hand
How should I play
I don’t understand
On the outside a King
But on the inside a Queen
The king I have shown
But the queen’s not been seen
Is there a trick up the sleeve
A professional hack
Do I bluff my way through
Because I don't know Jack
Are my aces high
When I’m feeling low
Do the Jokers laugh
As my anxieties grow
I play each card
Some break my heart
Do I join the club
Or fall apart
Do I need to dig deeper
With an emotional spade
And search for that diamond
To see how I was made
I’m sure as I dig deeper
I’ll be a winner one day
But I guess until then
I’ve a hand I must play

Thanks both.

I feel the time is near
The Queen will be on display.
Just need a little more strength
To help me on my way

Wonderful use of cards as a metaphor for human condition. A tinge of hope resting between cards of emotion and conflict. Simply brilliant!
