Kaleidoscope
Sat blankly staring through my window pane
Distracted and dismayed by the constant rain
I think of all those young hopes and dreams
Trickling downwards like the rivulet streams
The rain washing those ambitious wishes away
Rinsing them down the drain for yet another day
I feel for the young and their hopes and dreams
Now lost and washed away in flooding streams
I bring myself around and tell myself I must not dwell
Try to think of the positives and how I can break this spell
Believe that brighter days are be heading our way
Bright sunny blue skies to blow away cloudy grey
So often we refer to the rainbow after stormy days
The slightest glimmer of sunshine lights up our way
The warmth of colour is lost in the darkness of night
The world seems cold and hostile in black and white
Dream that tomorrow will bring a rainbow of hope
A prism reflecting light, like a turn of a kaleidoscope
