Our Turkish Garden
Our Turkish garden, early morning
so peaceful, calm and tranquil
Dragonflies dip, dart and dance
above azure water, calm and still
The pool is the centrepiece, blue,
crystal clear reflecting like glass
Cool, creamy, natural stone tiles
circled by freshly cut, green grass
The sound of cicadas, constant
invisible, cascading from the trees
The fountain water, washes over
the gentle sound of buzzing bees
Pomegranate, pear, lemon, lime,
fig, apple, conifer and olive trees
Feather like pampas grass, wafts
tall palms rustle on a gentle breeze
Climbing the walls of white villas
Bougainvillea shocking pink hues
Butterflies drink in the nectar
from the pink, red, white and blues
The place starts to come to life
the sound of early morning chatter
I do not understand the language
but that really does not matter
Very soon our Turkish garden
will be buzzing, as it comes alive
Children will play on inflatables
swim and splash, jump and dive
The sound of fun and laughter
tales of good times and holidays
Our Turkish garden, our haven
it will remain forever and always
