Boat Trip To Gumusluk
We meet on the quayside, where we begin our day trip
All aboard the day boat Ispita, Captain Izzet is our Skip
We set off in bright sunshine, under cloudless blue sky
On calm and tranquil seas, waving to others passing by
Sail in to rocky coves, take a leisurely swim or a dip
Negotiate the wooden deck, carefully, avoiding a slip
Gumusluk Bay is our destination, the prettiest of sights
Narrow shingle beach, sea front pensions, painted white
Many restaurants with jetties over and out into the sea
Lights twinkle at night, jewelled gourds hang from trees
Decorated white branches rise up from clear water below
Metallic ribbons ripple, wafting as the gentle breeze blows
4BC once stood Myndos City the ancient site of this town
Until an earthquake brought the city walls tumbling down
Archaeological artefacts still being discovered to this day
Why Gumusluk is now protected and shall remain this way
We finish our delicious lunch, sheltering in the shallow bay
Watching the world go by, on this, the most perfect of days
Suitably fed, watered and relaxed, we set off once more
We recline on our towels as we sail away from the shore
Sailing the calmest, bluest sea, a millpond reflecting the sky
On the lookout for dolphins, but unfortunately none swim by
Colours of the ocean, stunning, appear like a rainbow of blues
Navy, azure, turquoise, sapphire, deep and clear, sparkling hues
Back at the quayside, the day has been such a pleasure
A day to remember, filled with memories forever to treasure
