pink
i can feel the heat rise from my skin
the hot pink temperature of pain
self inflicted!
oh foolishness!
why did I never think the sun would be so hot!
a soreness makes me aware
of my vulnerability,
of the softness that is me.
a delicacy of skin and flesh and bone.
when even clothes cause pain.
delicacy to dying
is but a short journey.
I can feel the vertical ripples
the mirage of hot air
rise from my skin!
cold cream will melt on touching.
lay me in a bed of ice,
an iceburg will not be enough!
a polar cap to place
on my hot head!
just lay me in the freezer
for my bed!
