To Be Alone - Grizedale
The story is the same
It’s always the same
The need takes me, and I must act
Overwhelming need to escape
Escape from wall to wall people
Desiring a different experience
Hear my heartbeat
Truly breathe clean air
Solitude where are you?
Compulsion to be truly alone
Wanting ways to seek
Seek and we will find
One cold December day finds me in Grizedale Forest
My choice of parking places today
Needing to be far from the moderate crowd
Rain lashes down upon me and I care not
The allure of a wild forest
Solitude where are you?
Well known trail I have to myself
Driving downpour assaults my senses
Leafless branches offer scant protection
Wind cuts through my waterproofs
And I feel awakened once more, alive!
Nary another human soul to be seen
Feeling at one with nature
Mother nature at her most extreme
I love this solitude!
