Christmas Perfection
Why does everything seem to escalate
Around this time of year
Thinking of occasions in the past
When I have lost my Christmas cheer
Small things blown out of all proportion
Suddenly seemed impossible to beat
When a molehill became a mountain
A challenge to conquer and defeat
The straw that broke the camels back
When plans didn’t go just right
Meet the deadline of Christmas Eve
The panic over by Christmas night
Sometimes I just had to let it go
But not in an Elsa, Frozen style
Guilty of emotional outbursts
Locking myself away for a while
Looking back nothing was ever lost
When things didn’t go perfectly
We laugh about those times now
They are part of our family history
This year I feel it’s a little different
Less pressure to provide perfection
A change in our hopes and dreams
Time to share appreciation and affection
This year if it all does not go to plan
I will not stress and put the blame on me
Take a deep breath, let it go with the flow
COVID Christmas will be what it will be
