Sally was homeless due to abuse

"I was homeless due to being abused,

Hankering for a hotel room ,not being used.

I've shivered many a night by a shop door,

Lying on cardboard to soften the floor.

I felt safer on the street away from my abuser,

Although frequently accused of being an user.

Due to my abuse I had to leave,

My possessions I had no time to retrieve.

Living on the street can be really tough,

I could very easily lose all my stuff.

My washroom was half a mile away,

A trusted friend with my possessions would stay.

Asleep one night with my phone by my side,

A call from my son,my abuser had died !!

I could return to my home and live with my son,

Free from abuse,a new life had begun.

At the funeral the priest read a tribute to he who had passed away,

I was really shocked at what the priest had to say."

"He was a good husband and in his family took great pride."

"I turned to my son and said, lift up the lid I don't think it's your dad inside !!"
