Absinthe Alley with my Green Fairy

lying face down

while sailing on green clouds

of absinthe

paddling my spoon

on blurry murky pools

tides bite back

frosty ice cool.

juggling streets

while skipping stones

bounce with heat in my chest,

beep beep

my vest drips

puddles of sweat.

cat eyes

paint the sky

on this ceiling

inside,

angry smoke

burns my black lung chimney

coughing broken smiles.

wormwood planted seeds

float on cubes

of sugar and ice,

mice dance stepping

through the forest of my hair

zigzag foxtrots.

bong blazed

bongo bombers

blast bubbles of beats

from emerald egg drums,

along dizzying tunneled paths

snoozing in bathtubs.

Ziggy strums his guitar

on faraway Mars

colliding orbiting cars

and shooting stars.

falling from treetops

with my green fairy,

sing me to sleep

in absinthe alley

while pins and needles prick my legs

chop down the dead wormwood

as snug bugs tuck into bed.

Yeah I won't get too into how bad it is here. But only Sierra Leone, years ago, has had a worse unemployment rate than our current figure. Obviously the data and record keeping is more accurate, or existent, than 3rd(er) world countries but anyway.
No, not at all. that's the beauty of it. A reminiscent piece about pre-draconian days, albeit leads to this. Sometimes it's in the subtleties

Paul - i love that phrase - 'begorrah'.

Stephen - somewhat a reminiscent piece.
say what you want about level 4 and all that. In South Africa we're currently going through our 3rd absolute alcohol ban since March. For several months cigarettes were banned as well. Of course, as is the case with all narcotics and contraband, they were available. But at cocaine prices.
