ADDICTED

entry picture

From out the closet I now voice

The truth about my drug of choice -

The heroin contained within

The kitchen cupboard’s biscuit tin.

For found there is the stuff of dreams

Jammy Dodgers, Custard Creams;

And pinching one will never do

I need to see the packet through,

Then hiding crumbs is common sense

For fear Our Gert finds evidence.

From breakfast-time I’ll pin my heart on

Shortbread if it’s Crawford’s Tartan;

This addict’s eyes will never linger

Long on Kit Kats’ siren fingers;

Excitedly my manhood grows

Once it sniffs some Oreos,

Hob Nobs, Clubs or Wagon Wheels.

A smackhead knows just how it feels

To gorge upon some fresh home-bakes

Or get your fix of Jaffa Cakes.

I know not when these daemons grew

But truly I’m addicted to

The heroin contained within

The kitchen cupboard’s biscuit tin.

My addictions are 3-fold, MC. Biscuits, cheese and Tottenham Hotspur, none of which do me any good. But at least I get pleasure from 2 of them.
And thanks for the Likes, Stephen G, Stephen A, Branwell, Holden and Rebel.

Crumbs! More fun from an easily digested source ? I got a "pre-diabetes" nod from a blood test some while ago and am obliged to
limit my own input - but happily I've found a very low sugar dark chocolate digestive that accommodates my own cravings on a daily
basis - allowing me a bit of enticing excess of the marshmallow
tea cake and caramel wafer variety for the occasional "high". Oooh...the temptations!!!!! ?

In truth, JAG, I haven’t started the biscuits bought for me at Christmas yet. I try to fight the flab for a wedding later this year.
And thanks for the Likes, Greg, Aviva, Julie and Nazia.
