When the Covid pandemic is over

we will all celebrate

and throw parties and parades

but some of us will have trouble

removing our masks

which have now grown into

our facial skin

and become permanent

 

like a graft on a tree

the masks will just be absorbed

into our skin

and create a new hybrid species

that flourishes on gauze and rubber bands

 

in order to get rid of our mask

we will have to have plastic surgery

or a root repellent

 

masks grow deep

entwining the ears and mouth and nose

once they get started

they stop up our drains

and plug our pipes

 

from the seed of masks

great disappointment grows

despair takes root

in masks.
