My Pandemic Diary

Who could have predicted back in March last year
We would all still be living through unprecedented times
Who could have known that the first poem I wrote
Would lead me to write a pandemic diary in rhymes

Looking back over my writes from the past year
A long list of my attempts at poetry in plain sight
Reading them brings back so many memories
This time last year our lives changed forever overnight

Below I a share just some of my poem titles
Written through out the seasons of this past year
Some of them I know will make me happy, smile and laugh
Sadly, I am sure that some may bring a tear

Spring marks the start of my diary with Daffodils
Clapping For Key Workers and Heroes In Blue
Shopping At A Safe Distance and Bank Holidays
Captain Tom and the New Normal for me and you

In summer I wrote After The Storm of Rainbows
A Vampire Virus and One Hundred Days In Lockdown
Independence Day, The Tourons Trip to Turkey
Fathers Day and A Stroll Around Kirkby Lonsdale town

I wrote of Autumn Gold and Tiers For Souvenirs
Clinging On,The Rule Of Six and A Poem A Day
Hands, Face, Space, Halloween and A Penny For the Guy
Christmas Shopping and how Christmas was on its way

Winter arrived with news of a Covid Vaccine
Mixed Emotions and Santa Isn't Coming To Town
Christmas Perfection, Wintery Walks and New Years Eve
Robins, Snowdrops, Hope and The Wheel Of Lockdown

This spring I wrote Everything Will Be Alright
Created a Poet Tree and Something From Nothing
I wrote The Gift Of Your Love on Mother's Day
Vaccination and A Murmuration of Starling

These pandemic times are something we have all shared
Our lives have changed so much and in so many ways
Too many to list here, I now have hundreds of poems
A collection of my memories from these strange days
