he said his final farewell in his own way
So much made of Covid restrictions
but did they make way for his perfect day

For his service to Queen and Country
a proud military representation
For his love and support to his family
a close kin in dignified reflection

Windsor Castle majestic and resplendent
the sun shone bright in a perfect sky
I hope this was the funeral he had planned
and the way he chose to say goodbye

I wonder if the Covid restrictions
could be seen as a kind of blessing
Instead of all the pomp and ceremony
there was less pressure and less stressing

Was the Queen relieved to wear a mask
to cover the emotion etched on her face
Was it her intention to sit alone
as that was only ever Prince Philips place

Was the she relieved not to welcome guests
from around the world on her darkest day
Was she grateful to spend time with family
to share in their grief together this way
