Nemesis
her tongue was always sharp
a feisty often ferocious maid
until she met her nemesis,a
spouse fit to blunt her blade
oh, my task was far from easy
many the battles we did fight
she refused to give up easily
but one day she saw the light
she wanted to go out I didn't
defying me she partied away
she got home the door locked
saw the price she had to pay
only minor eruptions since then
by and large she accepts her lot
half a loaf's better than nothing
best to enjoy the bits she's got
on the whole she seems happy
sitting there reading or sewing,
I'm careful what I say, hate her
to feel that inside I'm crowing
yet a dark cloud blights our bliss
lately my funny lump has grown,
you know what quacks are like
seem to have minds of their own
