UK Nul Points
An uninspired singer,
A rather plodding song:
Zero voters can't be wrong.
No offence, mind;
I'm sure they did their best.
I just wanted
To get it off my chest.

I haven't watched Eurovision for years, but sometimes catch the end just to see the scoring, which I find more entertaining than the competition itsen.
As you say, this country has so much musical talent.
We don't take this competition seriously, then feel bitter when we don't do well.
Many thanks to Greg, MC and Leon for the comments, and to everyone for the likes. I would never claim that Eurovision amounts to much in terms of quality (yes, the whole thing is fairly medicocre) and I am not a regular watcher, but it was pretty clear that the UK song never had a hope of being reasonably placed, let alone winning. I don't really understand why, since there is so much musical talent in the country.
Presumably 'serious' musicians run a mile from it.
I won't get into the Brexit issue, although a glance at my profile page will tell you what I think about it.

Nice little ditty Stephen.
Greg...you gotta let it go matey or it'll eat you up inside.
I'm not that impressed by the quality of UK songs chosen for that
particular showbiz circus. Mediocre seems about right...and maybe
that's what's wrong!
Well said, Stephen! I'm sure we've had nul points before Brexit, so can't blame it on that. But maybe it didn't help.

Thanks for the comment, KJ. I suppose one of the problems is that there seems to be no guaranteed formula for a winning song. The Italian victors performed a sort of third-rate heavy metal number. However, we seem to have found a formula for a losing one.
