Some flowers they are

these Sunflowers

with their giant stalks

as tall as fence posts

they rise up in my flower bed

having come up on their own

even after the brutal Winter freeze

they survived somehow

and are now hardy and strong

reminders of life itself

they project their joy

their resilience

each flower a miniature sun

smiling.
