Home and Heart
I saw the sunrise today
Beyond the little hill..
It will rise again tomorrow..
But for me today time stood still...
I packed up our home today...
With the early sun rays...
Said my goodbye as it was my last day...
Every nook has a little memory...
Every corner it's own story...
The lights we put together twinkle away in my minds eye..
Even as I pull out the plug with a sigh...
Every little trinket is now packed away...
Warm in their casing and bubble wrapped for a long stay...
Curtains now drape all the furniture around...
As I lock all doors and window to block away the sound...
I sing our home a sweet lullaby...
Tell it to sleep till we come walking by...
It will always be our haven...away from all the world...
We may have stepped out on a new journey...
But we have left it a little of our soul...

Having moved many times In my younger days, I saw each new place as an acquaintance; some dearer to me than others. The
essence of what a home can mean if known for long enough to
engender real affection is well caught here.
