My Ocean Dream
My Ocean Dream
Sometimes when life is rough
We cast our mind to a special place
A dream
Where things feel a little more wholesome— with a little less edge
—and things are a little less tough
And this is where I go
Where the sand meets the sea
Where rugged rich formations— are cushioned by giant and lush tropical trees
The sky is blue— the sun smiles
And I am caressed by a tickling breeze
I float on the water
Unaware of the time
My usual troubles have left me
I feel at ease— I'm at peace— I am fine
Someone gently prompts me— to turn my attention
To a dolphin playing nearby
It is so close to me— that I feel that we are at one in the water
Its beauty
Brings a tear to my eye
A surfer is in flow
Unaware that a rainbow is following behind— as they ride the wave
Flying fish discreetly dance— across the water’s surface
Their sparkle and their shimmer
Captivate my gaze
I decide that it doesn't matter— if I'm invited by the ocean
To join in on its journey— rolling in to shore
I'm happy just to be here
And I need nothing more
And as I've made that choice
The waves have decided that it is my time
I paddle to keep up with the ocean’s rhythm
But whether or not I catch the wave— I'm still at ease— I’m at peace— l am fine.
The ocean lifts me up— in its strong and mighty hands
And it feels like the first time
Like I'm being pushed down and along— a powerful magical elevator of water
Nothing can compare
It's sublime
And towards the end of the journey
The ocean has decided
That it is ready to let go of me— and continue its way to land
Its hands realise me
And I rumble amongst a washing machine— of salt water and sand
I'm overjoyed
To be overturned
I am humbled
I am blessed
No matter how I feel or what I need
The ocean will provide
As the ocean knows me best
And when I think of all the wonders
That the ocean can give
I have to pinch myself
As this dream— this fantasy— this fairy tale
In Port Macquarie— is where I live
