captivate and delight the eye

Distant skyline peaks and troughs
a perfect picture postcard backdrop
Undulating, rolling moorland 
harsh, sharp, sheer and rocky fell tops 

The deep, dark blue water glistens 
under the bright sun and blue sky
Autumn trees shed their golden leaves
that gently fall and flutter by 

We wander through the dense woodland
the bright sunlight dapples and fades
Scrambling down stone pathways
along the rapid, gushing cascades

Nonchalant cows graze in fields 
lush green, copper and bronze bracken hues
We sit for a while in silence 
take in the magnificent views 

As far as the eye can see 
spectacular landscape far and wide
Today there’s nowhere more stunning
than the Lake District countryside
