Criss-cross
“The question shouldn't be "Why are you, a Christian, here in a death camp, condemned for trying to save Jews?' The real question is "Why aren't all the Christians here?”
― Joel C. Rosenberg, 'The Auschwitz Escape'.
The aim of the blues,
the only aim of the blues,
is not to pass you by~
but rather to aid you to scrape by,
to occasionally get high,
and always to know
On the road from Gethsemane to Calvary,
I lost my way.
Shedding skins like a snake,
moving into a staccato rhythm
to express this mood
of a cold, empty room
full of pin-prick entrances
and exploding exits
as we lose all regret, and all we beget:
is the familiar, the ordinary,
shining into our inner-eye.
For once, we gaze at the misery
that passes us by
we try to live
day-to-day
and give our meagre wealth away.
Autumn colours
fade away.
light goes early
as these east winds bring Siberia
to these complacently unpleasant English counties..
