The Salvation Army, the light in the window that says somebody cares

Cross legged he sat out in the cold,

Begging for assistance only 20 years old.

His life fell apart when he lost his home,

He sank into depression as the streets he did roam.

But a beacon of hope shone his way,

And the light is shinning on him today.

The Salvation army helped him survive,

Found him a job,a new home and thankfully thrive.

As you look forward to spending Christmas in your own home,

Think of those desperately spending Christmas all alone.

Possibly someone you are never likely to meet,

If you see someone suffering offer them a treat.

A big thanks to the Salvation Army, the light in the window that says somebdy cares.

Whilst I do not give money to those on the street, I give them voucher cards from Greggs. You can buy as much or as little on each card. A simple contribution of a fiver might brighten up someone’s day with a hot drink and pastie.

I liked the sentiment of this one, and it would be so nice if that was the reality of what the Salvation army are about.
In truth they are a religious cult.
Admittedly a small portion of the money that they raise does go to good causes. But the vast majority of the funds that they acquire goes on paying wages for the hierarchy of this corrupt business, and beanos for the favoured few among their ranks.
