The Thing You Are Looking For
Is not here
it was here but only for a brief time
and then it got ugly
worn and wrinkled
it had been a beautiful thing before
how it shined in the sun
and thrilled you with its brilliance
but now the thing you thought
would last forever
has been lost somewhere
along the road of life
Youth you see
is as temporary as a moment
like color fades
like copper tarnishes
it turns on you and
leaves you dizzy
before you realize it
it is gone forever
look away then
and let it go
it was a fickle friend to begin with
embrace your new-found companion
put your arms around
Old Age.

dk.,
Definitely one of your very best poems which encapsulates the aging process. Your use of the language is extraordinarily good and I particularly the lines
thrilled you with its brilliance
it was a fickle friend to begin with
The poem's conclusion is perfect. I am impressed with this and thank you for it. Something for all age groups to read and ponder on.
