Tetris

These shapes descend on my computer screen.

Slowly at first, but then more quickly,

Squares, rectangles and awkward

Objects best described as a T.

Small, huge, and medium sized,

Appear unannounced and

Unexpectedly.

Except, you do expect them

But not in that unusual order,

If you see what I mean.

I arrange their descent to complete

A line across the bottom which then

Disappears.

I rotate the many different shapes and lengths.

I am frustrated at the shapes I’ve got.

When the shapes reach the top of the screen,

That’s your lot.

----------------------------------------------------------

My words float down my computer screen

In irregular patterns and shapes.

My mind races to complete each line.

Between Tetris and poetry

What link do I find?

             A thought occurred but,

Dropping to the bottom of my mind, it

Disappeared.

My irregular words and strange ideas

Bank up frustratingly,

Refusing to coalesce poetically

Into nice, neat rhythmical rows with

Precise words in appropriate spaces.

I am increasingly

              Undeniably

          Indisputably

                            Irrefutably

Running out of time.

Game over.

Thanks Stephen, The tetris analogy was a bit of a stretch but I enjoyed the process 😀

A very interesting analogy, John. As Holden says, you seem to have made it poetically!

You've explored a unique analogy in which the words and ideas definitely do "coalesce poetically", John! 😊
