I went to the cinema 
to see the new West Side Story
The tale of two New York gangs
In a fight for turf war glory

Based on the Shakespeare novel
of Romeo and Juliet
Manhatten in the nineteen fifties 
is where and when it is set  

Maria and Tony fall in love
at first sight and just by chance 
Their whirlwind romance starts 
as they meet at a high school dance 

They shouldn’t be together
but their love is far to strong 
They make a vow for forever  
true love knows no right or wrong 

The members of the Sharks and Jets
plan to settle all in a fight  
Sadly tragic events unfold 
at the rumble that fateful night 

There are many lessons to be learned 
from this West Side love story
Be more tolerant and kind 
violence never ends in glory
