THE GHOST OF TARAS BULBA
Spectating on in impotence we wring our hands in vain
While patriotic blood will spill on soil of steppe and plain;
It’s left unto the partisans and Cossacks of Ukraine
To resurrect the ghost of Taras Bulba.

What do you think Trump would do that Biden won’t, MC.
And the current US president is hardly the sort that Putin would
fear (or respect) as an adversary. I just get the feeling that, as
he did with that North Korean dictator and his sabre rattling, Trump would have been in Putin's face on a personal level from
the outset of all the pre-invasion signs of aggressive intent.
I don’t see any good outcome, Kev. He’s played us like a fiddle. I bet he’s shitting himself at Boris’s condemnation!
I'm really worried about the situation in the Ukraine.
Selfishly I worry about me and my own, and how an acceleration of the conflict could affect us.
But my heart goes out to the people of Ukraine, who are inevitably going to suffer whatever the political outcome.
Thanks, MC. Yes, I did see it. I wonder if he’ll ever be heard from again.

And thanks for the Like, Stephen.
The film was worth remembering for its fine music score by Franz
Waxman and the excellence of its outdoor photography, filmed in Argentina if memory serves me correctly.
Did you see that illuminating TV footage of Putin putting one of his cabinet guys on the rack until finally getting a "yes"
regarding the so-called breakaway parts of Ukraine? Fascinating!
You can take the man out of the KGB, but you can't take the KGB out of the man!
The film is a load of stuff and nonsense starring Yul Brynner and Tony Curtis, Greg. But entertaining nonetheless.
Had to google this one, John. You're right, we can't do anything, here in Londonograd, with the Russians bankrolling our politicians for years, while their main man sends his agents over to spread poison at will, in so many different ways. What was the Russian ambassador reported to have said about the UK after Brexit? 'We have crushed the British to the ground!' Whether he said it or not, it is true. Reported again in the Daily Express, no less, two days ago.

JC - Not a question of "won't"; more a question of "didn't". Timing is everything in politics..
