UNITED
"United we stand - divided we fall" -
Many times history has heard that call.
Now we hearken to it once again,
From the brave who fight to save Ukraine.

Sorry MC.
But I have to agree with John on this one.
I think that it's shameful how little help the rest of the world (including us) has given.
I'd hate to be a decision maker at this time... Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
But we all seem to be sitting on our hands, just waiting to see what unfolds.
Ukraine is suffering unimaginable damage, and we should all unite to do whatever we can.
So were we in 1940 before ongoing supplies from beyond these
shores helped make a difference in the months and years that followed. Russia might well discover the truth of the old adage:
"There's many a slip twixt cup and lip" and that even conquering
a country doesn't ensure success in holding it.
Unfortunately, MC, they're on their own.

KJ - I understand the feeling you express so forcefully. But
who is privy (to use a famous old word) to what is actually
being done from various sources to provide help - both verbal and physical - to support Ukraine as the days pass. It is very
much a balancing act when faced with the unbalanced
behaviour that imposes mass military action upon a neighbour
with which it has had such close historical ties. Paranoia has long been a dangerous feature of Russian political control.
Remember the destruction of that civilian jet with its three
hundred passengers a few decades ago when it was said to
have intruded into Russian air space (from the Sea of Japan?)....and other more recent aggressions in the name of "defence" that have occurred. There has always been that
willingness by the Russian state machine to resort to ruthless responses.no matter who suffers. The paranoia clearly persists! So it is wise to play the long game and give the likes
of Putin and his stooges the least number of excuses to
escalate the situation. Softly softly, catchee monkey (money??) perhaps.
