Is this justice?
Is this justice?
The beggar steals bread from a shop keeper
He would of paid but alas he’s too eager
To feed his family for just… one day
The judge announced 5 years, they will pay
It’s not like his family, could have their say
Is this justice?
The student who cares for their sick
mother
Plagiarises essays one after another
To not fall foul of this important course
But irony they’re caught and expulsion is forced
The mother in care, with students' remorse .
Is this justice?
The father who murders his sons killer
Before a saint and our communities pillar
Now reduced to life behind bars
For something he didn’t even start
That warped his fragile heart
Is this justice?
A ticket given by the man of law
Who beats his wife behind locked doors
His colleagues all know, yes that is true
The fear of this bully, really does rule
Could we evade capture, if it were me or you
Is this justice?
The law man’s wife who is abused and beaten
We can see apologetic words that are eaten
But turns to another and has an affair
However in guilt she does dispair
Hanging on rope, bruises covered by deshellved hair
Is this justice?
In this day and age how can I know
societies empathy is like melted snow
In extreme cases, yes justice is cold
But it’ll take more to have me sold
That this really is justice to behold

Thanks for the likes, Clare, Holden, Stephen and Stephen.
The poem was my untold answer I think about when people ask why I quit the police service at just 6 months in.
It’s not quite like the tales in here and longer story of two sides. But the unfairness and harsh realities spurred me hastily to quit.
