I Am To Blame
It was my fault
As I took my last breath
I know it could never
Be that mans
Fault
He knows not
What he does
Without the smile
Of his mother
Or a wink from
His lover
I am to blame
For Sarah
If only I had
Mothered him
Better
Perhaps I
Should have
Sent him
More love
Letters
It’s my fault
I am to blame
If only I had been
A better wife
Maybe he wouldn’t
Have taken my
Life
I would not
Be a member
Of that hall
Of fame
I am to blame
For the hundred
And Forty Nine
Killed by
The Hundred
And Forty Seven
In one year
By the men
That were loved
The men with
No Shame
In 2018
These women
Were beaten
To death
In the UK
Alone
In their own
Homes
By the men
That were given
Leave to remain
Yes, they were
To blame
Because, do you
See
Men can not be
Held responsible
For their anger
And greed
Behind every
Great man
Is a wonderful
Woman
And all men
Are great
And the women
Agreed
Yes, I am yours
Do what you need
To feel manly
And strong
I’ll just follow
Your lead
Beat me to
Death
I will not plead
For my life
Because I
Am your wife
And you are not
Capable of owning
Responsibility
For your own strife
You need my
Permission
Apparently!
Because as
A man
You have no
Autonomy
If only I’d known
When you said
Marry me
That what you
Were asking
Was if it was OK
To go on a murdering
Spree!

Well written, Clare. Every single person on this planet is responsible for their own actions, good or bad. However, there are none so blind as those who refuse to see. I don't waste energy on folk who will always blame someone else, regardless of how many people they may hurt or offend.
The truth will catch up with them sometime. Karma is a powerful thing,
Blessings!
