ROGUE
I've a sneaking suspicion that in other days there was a certain vogue
That favoured a politician who was fancied a bit of a rogue.
"It takes a thief to catch a thief" vying with "Thou shalt not steal"
Was a fact of life for people then and considered no big deal.
Ivory towers might be suitable for cultivating innocent flowers
But you need to get hands dirty when dealing with devilish powers

Good point, MC. It's certainly true that some outstanding leaders - Lloyd George, JFK - have had 'complicated' personal lives. On the other hand, the public seem to look less kindly on those who actually break the law e.g. Tricky Dicky and Boris Johnson.
