The Eagle's Wedding

Have you ever climbed a mountain?

Have you ever dreamed?

Did you imagine what you might see there

On that heady mountain peak?

I have climbed a mountain

And I will tell you what I saw

But you might not believe

What it is that I did see

Still, it’s true

So listen, I implore!

For I saw such beauty

Beyond anything that’s real

You may never have imagined

The reality of feeling quite so free

When I reached the summit

My breath was stole from me

I will try to regale you with the imagery

Of the beauty from up above

The trees

The wind, it was gentle

A power of it’s own

The eagles, they fly high

They soar with such freedom

In the piercing blue sky

I think on this day

I was witness to

A wedding ceremony

Because the cherries

Released their blossom to the air

The trees below

They glowed

Iridescent blues, and greens

Such a sight is rarely

Seen!

The eagles, they flew

Through azure

Cherry blossom confetti

Embellished their beauty

Beyond compare

If you’ve never climbed

A mountain

It maybe something

That you have never even

Dreamed

But I can assure you

It is true

I would not lie to you!

I could not myself imagine

The sweetness of that early

Morning dew

Nor the tiny mountain flowers

In shades of every hue

There’s a world

High above us

Filled with cherry blossom rain

And eagles surfing through the clouds

They are holding

Wedding ceremonies

And my, they look so proud!

Feathers preened

Guests esteemed

I felt like an intruder

On this truly wondrous

Scene.

A really beautiful poem, Clare! I loved the "cherry blossom confetti" and the last stanza in particular! 🌷
