The Rocky Road to Ruin
The Rocky Road to Ruin
I see a world consumed with greed
caught in a web of deceit and guile
Violence flows as a pyro plastic mass
as men seek unlimited, and unrestrained gratification
People trample carelessly on each other
they grapple and cajole for power and dominance
Wealth is the new immoral goal
its pursuance a new religious cult
There is a craving for happiness and pleasure
which rest in the labyrinth of dire sin
Joy is no longer a pure meadow of refreshment
but a quick fix, a climax of disappointed relief
The journey has no visible or realised destination
as the ways of peace and justice are mocked and reviled
instead there is a new way like a braclet with trinkets or cheap silver
the road to perdition is well illuminated
