THE STORM

During the night a storm erupted

holding us hostage

under a cabin roof.

I lit small candles when the power went down,

the night became a sightless eye

and we were afloat, unblinking

in the coracle of a disturbed dream;

tall pines thrashed the sky

whose shimmer was a dance

to thunderous applause from the rain.

Thank you all Frederick, Tom, Jordyn, Graham, Stephen, Holden and K. Lynn for likes.

Thank you Carol, very scary experience I can assure you.

Great response Stephen thanks! Heavily edited this one so it needed to be concise. The rain has been a bit contrary with us in Surrey too, but typing this now we've had three water butts full!

Ten lines of near-perfection, Ray. Beautiful and not a word wasted. Still waiting for the rain where I am.
