Catch
A philosophy of Liberty
gets caught in
a fisherman's net,
fluoresces, though
on its last legs,
as a gasp escapes
from the gills
of an anglerfish,
when a mermaid,
mythical yet hopeful,
flees a wishbone,
to mend the wreck
and free that
reckless Liberty,
while the lodestar
guides on, graceful
testament to what
unfailingly shines on...

Liberty is a conundrum - a free spirit is not limited by others' conceptions of liberty.
“We were the people who were not in the papers. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. It gave us more freedom. We lived in the gaps between the stories.” Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale.
