FROM RAGS TO RISHI

Who’d’a believed it?  Just a few short weeks ago he was out in the wilderness –

  • A former Chancellor dropped from the first team by Captain Truss
  • Beaten to that position on the say-so of 160,000  blue rinses
  • The “socialist” who alluded to higher taxes
  • And reviled as Boris’s backstabber-in-chief by many of his fellow MPs

Then lo! Behold the implosion of Disastrussonomics.

Predicted by Prophet Rishi himself and commented on and punished in spectacular fashion by the rest of the financial world and his uncle.

Thank God for the 1922 Committee who had the good sense to contrive a contest which slanted away from a membership vote.  Because we all know that the mantra of the membership was “We want Boris back”.  And we also all know what can happen when you give John-down-the-pub a say in political decision making:

  • You can get Jeremy Corbyn elected to lead a Labour Party which didn’t support him and which he herded off the cliff
  • You get I-can’t-lie-straight-in-bed Boris Johnson elected by 90000 of those blue rinses as Leader to succeed Theresa May
  • You get Liz Truss promising gold pigs she didn’t have which those blue rinses fell for hook, line and sinker
  • And you get Brexit.

I have nothing against him having his vote, Stephen,. But until he can demonstrate a certain level of intellect (say, “Join Up The Dots”) I would restrict his democratic involvement to voting for Goal of the Month and getting rid of has-beens from Strictly.
And thanks for the Like, Frederick.

Quite right, John, although the bloke in the boozer still gets his look in at elections. Not much we can do about that, I guess.
