Wise guys

So, there were these three wise guys see

All with fancy clothes riding camels

And they had servants

And all manner of things

They were dripping in wealth

Like they were kings

They had come a long way to meet this big cheese

Who had just been born

So, they could pay homage to this new kid on the block

But they had quite a time trying to find the kid

His parents had been on the run for weeks before hand

Trying to avoid the feds

Trying to get away from this other big noise

Who had met the three wise guys telling them

Let me know when you find him so I can meet him

And pay homage too

But they weren’t called wise for nothing

They knew he wanted to waste the kid

Because the kid was a threat

To his territory and the sweet little number, he had going

So, with the help of a star these wise guys find the kid

And they take him gifts like it was Christmas

Gold frankincense and myrrh

Stuff the likes of you and I would be hard to get hold of

If you get my drift

So, after they left the kid

Who incredibly was in a stable behind a sleazy motel with

A whole load of animals

Phew the smell

They went off and avoided the big noise

Because they knew his intentions were not good

The long and the short of it was the kid grew up

To be a mighty king

That was never truly recognised by his own people

But he is still talked about today two thousand years later

What a guy!

Ha, Martin, this is great. The idea of M & J being 'on the run from the feds' is so wryly brilliant.

You have pitched this perfectly, Martin. Nothing sounds forced or false. A fine poem indeed.

What a guy indeed Martin. The rock upon which so many of us today should build our lives on I say. Thank you.

Amazing. That story can always be applied to any age, anywhere.
A Prophet never welcome in his own country, because he's a threat to the elites, speaking truth to power.
